Jayne Bray's Dogs

 

Raeven, (Special Edition at Upanova CC). Royale/Sealight WSD. D.O.B. 31/08/99. Black & White from Mary Rays Dash & Peter Roberts’ Lizzie the Daventry Team lead Flyball bitch. 

Raeven won her first Championship Certificate at Wilton in August 2003 & therefore qualified the Crufts 2004 Championship after starting to compete in May 2001. By July 2001 she had qualified for Senior status through winning both a Novice jumping and agility class on the same day & then reached Advanced status at 3 years old in April 2003. Raeven has won 23 classes & qualified 13 finals.

2004 wins however, include the Pedigree Team Agility Relay, (Together with Alan & Skylar) & the Haslemere Pedigree Chum Olympia Stakes Qualifier.

2003 wins include, Advanced Agility classes & Championship heats en route to the final, Senior Agility including the Crufts Singles heat at Nottingham in May, the Pedigree Chum Olympia Stakes agility qualifying heat at Haslemere in April to reach day 2 of the Royal Show semi – finals, Senior Jumping, the Pedigree Pairs relay qualifier (Together with Alan & Buzzy) at Ribble in January 2003 & then in 2002 a Senior Agility class at the Derbyshire show & with it the Misty Memorial Trophy.

Raeven has qualified 13 finals in total including 2005 Crufts Senior Singles Agility final.

In 2004 she finished 4th in the Pedigree Team Agility Relay final, (Together with Alan & Skylar), qualified the Celebration Advanced Power & Speed final & days 2 & 4 of the Pedigree Chum Olympia Stakes Semi – Finals in addition to Championship finals at the Agility Club (E), Newton Heath (E) & Crufts (E).

2003 finals qualified were the Wilton week Championship final (Which she won), day 2 of the 2003 Pedigree Olympia Semi – finals (E), the 2003 Pedigree Tandem Pairs final (E) & day 3 of the 2002 Pedigree Olympia Semi – final (E).  

Raeven finished 9th in the 2004 Agility Club Advanced Dog of the Year League Competition.

From a Working & Breed Show line who has started competing at the Thames show on the 12th June 2004 & has to date a 3rd, 6th & 20th place in Novice & 11th in Intermediate.

Put quite simply, Portia is without doubt the most successful modern British Agility dog there is. All the following have been achieved despite Portia having 3 litters of pups. Portia’s roll of honour includes: -

bulletFirst English Mini Championship Certificate Winner, May 2001.
bulletFirst Pedigree British Agility Champion, June 2002.
bulletFirst British Double Agility Champion, (In any standard). March 2003.
bulletShe has won a record number of 7 Championship Certificates & 3 Reserve Championship Certificates & a third place in 3 years of competition between August 2004 & May 2001.
bulletOnly dog to win the Eukanuba Crufts Championship in three different years, (No other dog or handler have won it twice). Wins in 2003, 2002 & 2000. Portia was Runner – Up in 1999.

bulletQualified the Eukanuba – Crufts Mini – Maxi Pairs final 2005.

Nothing else comes near Portia’s list of achievements secured at the highest level against the toughest competition. Portia is famous for her ability to work ahead at speed to directional commands in exactly the same manner as collies & as the above list of achievements demonstrates, Portia is a ‘ big event’ dog that has delivered results on the day under pressure!

Portia qualified in1997 for Advanced status at 18 months old & won over 276 classes including all the available finals, (Some several times over) before semi - retiring in June 2003 at nearly 8 years of age to have her final litter of puppies although Portia competes at selected warm and dry shows in order to keep her fit whilst she still enjoys it!

Alan has run Portia in 2004 leaving Jayne to concentrate on Raeven & Kruise.

Agility Championships Finals

Portia is the first Mini English Championship Certificate Winner, the first Pedigree British Champion & the first British double Agility Champion in any standard.

She has won 7 finals of the 17 qualified, been reserve on 4 occasions & 3rd once.

She won the Nottingham CC in May 2002 to complete 3 certificate wins to become a Champion. These wins included the first ever English KC Mini Agility Championship Certificate at the inaugural Newton Heath Championship show in June 2001. Portia did this in some style by winning both jumping & agility heats before the final itself! A 2nd certificate by winning the Chippenham CC in November 2001. Then came the Nottingham CC win followed by a 4th certificate by again winning at Newton Heath in June 2002 (This time with Alan), a 5th by winning the Chippenham Longleat CC in September 2002, a 6th by again winning at Chippenham in March 2003 & then the 7th by winning the Vyne Mayday ticket again with Alan in May 2003. 

In addition she has qualified 9 other Championship finals including 6 in 2004 (with Alan) winning reserve ticket at the Agility Club & Vyne Mayday shows & finished 3rd at Hinckley in June. She qualified 2 in 2003 & 2 more in 2002 winning Reserve Championship Certificates at both the 2002 Rugby (with Alan) & Northern Week shows & qualified one other final in 2001.

Crufts Show Finals

Jayne & Portia have qualified the 2005 Eukanuba Mini – Maxi Pairs relay final together with Alan & Tiggy.

Portia has qualified for the Eukanuba Crufts singles challenge final for 6 years in all. She is the only dog to win this in 3 separate years, (No other handler or dog have won it twice yet). This was achieved in 2003 by finishing 2nd & 1st in the heats then in 2002 by a win & 4th place in the heats & in 2000 through a win & 2nd place in the heats. In addition, she finished Runner - up in 1999 having again won one of the heats & also won individual heats in both 1998 & 1997. Portia also qualified the 2003/02/01/00 Crufts Knockout finals where she won the 2003 final, (With Alan) & was Runner-up in 2002.

Olympia Finals

Portia has qualified the KC Olympia Pedigree Chum 2005 Semi final through the first heat of the year held at the Ribble show in January. 

Portia won the 2004 Pedigree Chum Olympia Stakes Final with Alan filmed live on Eurosport to become the only dog to win Olympia twice with two different handlers, (Alan in 2004 & Jayne in 2002). Portia also finished Runner – up in the pairs final after qualifying Olympia by finishing 3rd in the Semi – final & qualified this by winning the Tunbridge Wells heat in May. 

Portia qualified the 2003 semi – final but was not fit enough after her litter of puppies. She qualified the 2002 Olympia final by winning the semi-final, before doing the double at Olympia winning both the Pairs, (Together with Sarah Ashmead & Clio) & the Individual final itself. She reached the 2001 Olympia final by finishing 2nd in her semi final. Portia qualified the 2000 Olympia final by winning all 4 classes on the same day at the semi-finals and with Hayley, winning the 2000 Kennel Club Junior Organisation, (KCJO) Agility Dog of the Year. (Competing against maxi dogs to achieve this). This qualified her for the KCJO Crufts final in 2001.

Supadogs Finals

Portia won both the 2004 (with Alan) & the 2002 (with Jayne) Supadog week Mini Senior finals. She won both final heats in 2004 & gained a 2nd place in the jumping then won the agility heat in 2002 & is the only dog to win this final twice.

Portia qualified the 2003 Supadog Individual final but did not compete due to her litter of puppies but finished 7th in the 2000 final & was Runner – up in 1999.

Other Finals

Portia won the 2002 Agility Club Knockout pair’s final, (Together with Carla Whyte & Spice).

League Competitions

Portia was 3rd in the 2004 Agility Club Mini Dog of the Year, 4th in both the 2004 & 2002 competitions, won both the 2002 & 2001 Agility Eye Midlands Senior Mini Dog of the Year & finished 3rd in both the 2001 & 2000, Agility Club Dog of the Year league competitions 

Portia has won two clubs league competitions & also won the Ash show tournament in 1997. (Alan & Jadie were the Runners - up!).
